3D Imaging

We had a willing intern this last week, Federica Benedetti, so with the help of digital gurus Neil Wevaux and Gareth Beale, we experimented with producing some 3D models of some of our more complete ceramics. The purpose of this was to see how much more clearly we were able to represent surface texture and use-alteration (charring, carbonisation, attrition, and residues). Here's the first finished scan: a nice York ware cooking pot from Coppergate.
